Trail Guide to Belleville Pond in North Kingston, Rhode Island
Let’s hike at Belleville Pond, a serene escape in Ryan Park, where flat, peaceful trails, stunning water views, and quiet natural beauty make for the perfect easy hike in North Kingston!

This was one of my first hikes in Rhode Island and while it’s mainly flat compared to the more hilly hikes I’m used to in New England – it makes up for it with various beautiful scenes to take in – paths along the water, over bridges, through tree tunnels in the woods, and ending at a little waterfall!
Living in Connecticut, I like to visit RI various times throughout the year. This was my first time hiking here in the fall and after checking out this beautiful trail, we will be back!
Belleville Pond Hike Location
Located just minutes west of downtown North Kingstown, Rhode Island, the 100-acre Belleville Pond is part of the Rhode Island Land Trust Council.

Established in 1674, North Kingston has a history rooted in maritime trade, agriculture, and industry. Early settlers capitalized on the region’s coastal location, building shipyards and participating in the rum and other trades.
Belleville Pond offers a serene retreat within Ryan Park, where trails loop around the water’s edge and along long-forgotten locomotive lines. The shallow waters of the pond support a rich ecosystem, making it a great spot for wildlife, especially birds.
Belleville Pond Overview & Highlights
A distinct highlight of this hike is the many views across the vast pond. With calm reflections of the surrounding woodlands, it’s a peaceful and rewarding spot for a walk with your best furry friends.
The trails loop gently through dense woodlands, open fields, and around Belleville Pond, providing several miles of hiking paths. The mostly flat terrain makes it accessible for dogs of all sizes and ages, allowing you both to enjoy a leisurely hike without strenuous inclines.
Weaving right along the pond’s edge, the trails give dogs plenty of natural smells and sights to explore. Enjoy the occasional access points to the pond where they can cool off on warmer days.
With its easy trails, beautiful views, and tranquil setting, Belleville Pond is an ideal spot for a relaxed day of hiking, allowing both you and your dogs to enjoy nature’s beauty at a comfortable pace.
